Eating Disorder Therapy Group (Virtual)

Eating Disorder Therapy Group Counseling is a structured virtual therapy group designed for adults struggling with disordered eating, body image distress, and the emotional patterns that drive them.

This group supports individuals experiencing:

  • Restriction or chronic dieting

  • Binge eating

  • Emotional eating

  • Obsessive thoughts about food or body

  • Body shame

  • Perfectionism is tied to appearance

  • Control issues connected to food

  • Eating behaviors linked to trauma or relational pain

Rather than focusing only on behaviors, this group explores the deeper emotional roots that fuel disordered eating.

Sessions meet weekly for 90 to 120 minutes in a secure virtual format.

How This Group Can Help

Disordered eating is rarely about food alone. It is often a coping strategy for unmet needs, unresolved trauma, or internalized shame.

This group can help you:

  • Understand the emotional drivers behind eating behaviors

  • Break cycles of restriction and binge patterns

  • Reduce body shame and self-criticism

  • Develop healthier coping skills

  • Improve emotional regulation

  • Reconnect with hunger and fullness cues

  • Strengthen your sense of identity beyond appearance

Many participants begin to feel relief as they realize they are not alone and that their behaviors make sense in the context of their story.

Our Approach to Eating Disorder Recovery

This is not a weight-focused or appearance-driven group.

Our approach integrates:

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Attachment-based understanding of food patterns

  • Psychoeducation about nervous system regulation

  • Experiential group exercises

  • Family systems insights

  • Collaborative goal setting

We focus on uncovering how early experiences shaped beliefs about worth, control, and safety.

Each participant identifies what they most want for themselves at the beginning of the group, and treatment goals are shaped collaboratively.

Recovery is approached through awareness, accountability, and compassionate change.

What You Can Gain from This Work

Participants often report:

  • Less obsession with food and body

  • Greater emotional awareness

  • Increased self-compassion

  • Improved relationship with hunger and fullness

  • Reduced shame

  • Healthier boundaries

  • A stronger sense of self-worth

The goal is not perfection. The goal is freedom.
